joomla-logo-vert-colorOne of the question I get asked the most is about the release date of Joomla 1.6. Some discussion popped up about it among the Joomla developers, and from the chat I've inferred that the date for release could happen by the end of the year. If it doesn't make it then, perhaps releasing it on the one year anniversary of Joomla would be a nice symbol as well.

Go developers go!

Nope, as always it'll be done when it's done. Seems like should be by Summer.

It will be done when its done is really not a good answer.

maybe if you were working on a little project with a couple of friends and a total userbase of 10 people who all ran small hobby sites and nothing more than that then that answer would float.

but your not. peoples entire businesses rely on your work. i have paid out lots of money in development work for various bits and pieces some of which i couldnt use when i moved from 1.0 to 1.5

now i am in a similar situation again i would like something more than perhaps this year.

I know you dont owe me a thing but i think as the people who agreed to take on the project and develop it into its next form you should realise that that holds a responsibility to the userbase.

why cant you have a more open plan with clear goals and a timeline.

if ti says another year then at least we would know which is a lot better than the current non commital non responsible way your doing things.

@Turbo: just so you know, I don't work on the Joomla project, so you're directing your comments to the wrong person smilies/smiley.gif

If you're so concerned about the due date, why not get involved with the project and start contributing! I'm sure the team would love to get your help with debugging or testing.
